Family Day Care Providers

If you operate a Family Day Care service, regular restraint audits help ensure the car seats you use are installed correctly, adjusted for each child, and safe for everyday transport.

The installer will identify any issues and guide you through any adjustments needed to keep your setup compliant and safe.

In-Person Inspection

An inspection is a great starting point if you aren't confident your car seats have been installed and adjusted correctly.

The installer will communicate any installation or fitment errors, and guide you through making make minor corrections.

Inspection and reInstallation

If installation errors are found and you aren't confident correcting these yourself, you can ask to have the installer carry out an installation of your child restraint.

If you have your restraint installed by an installer, you will only be charged the cost of the installation.

What we look for when inspecting a restraint:

  • Is the restraint in date and in good overall condition?
  • Is the restraint set up correctly for the installation position?
  • Is the restraint securely installed using an approved method of installation?
  • Is the top tether connected and free of twists or fraying?
  • Is the restraint sitting at the correct angle?
  • Does the restraint have the correct covers and inserts?

What we look for when inspecting fitment:

  • Is the harness and headrest adjusted to the correct height?
  • Is the harness free from twists and tangles?
  • Are the covers and inserts placed correctly?
  • Is the child placed correctly in the restraint?
  • Have any non-approved accessories been added to the restraint?
  • Is the harness or seatbelt correctly positioned and securely fastened?
